"We're going
now!"
Laurel & Hardy's
Labor Daze
PREVIEW:
4 Clowns
(1970)
CARTOON:
Speedy Gonzales
(1955)
 |
An Academy Award winner
featuring a character that became quite a political football earlier this year
for the Cartoon Network.
|
SHORT:
The Music Box
(1932)
 |
Who doesn't think about a
piano and that endless flight of stairs when someone mentions Laurel and Hardy?
This Oscar-winning, three-reel gem is always at the top of the list of all time
favorite comedy short subjects, and rightfully so. There isn't a wasted
moment in it. It features Billy Gilbert's best known role as Professor
Theodore von Schwartzenhoffen, M.D., A.D., D.D.S., F.L.D., F.F.F. und F., as
well as Charlie Hall as the postman.
|
SHORT:
Dirty Work
(1933)
 |
In this two-reeler, Stan and
Ollie demonstrate that Santa Claus isn't the only one who can go down a chimney.
Lucien Littlefield, who plays Professor Noodle, is even better known as the
veterinary that ministers to Oliver in
Sons Of The Desert.
In the final scene, watch for a very special co-star from the Hal Roach Studio
lot that became a featured player in a series of films over at MGM during the
1930's. (You sure don't want to monkey with him!)
|
SHORT:
Hog Wild
(1930)
 |
More rooftop antics from the
Boys as they attempt to install a radio aerial for Mrs. Hardy.
|
SHORT:
Busy Bodies
(1933)
 |
Pair Laurel and Hardy as
carpenters with power tools and you've got a sure fire formula for fun.
With Stanley "Tiny" Sandford and Charlie Hall.
|
Our Tent meeting proceeded
this program. During it, we discussed preliminary ideas for hosting the
Sons Of The Desert Convention in 2004. (The Hyatt On Capital Square has
already been secured as the hotel with a truly phenomenal discounted rate!)
Although many ideas were discussed, they will not yet be listed as they are
still in the "What about..." stage.
